Grand Theft Auto revolutionized the gaming industry with an absolutely fantastic open world game that provided users the opportunity to roam their city as a gangster on the rise. The popularity of GTA and its crime based story led to the development of many similar gangster games. Gameloft has its own version of the GTA as well with its Gangstar series. The crime action game has a very similar story setup to the GTA with each new release of the Gangstar game setting itself in a newer city. Gangstar New Orleans OpenWorld is the Gangstar's series newest open world game and as the name suggests, the game is setup in New Orleans. The game follows the storyline of a small time criminal who wants to make it big in the city and wants to fill the vacuum present in the mafia underworld.

The gangster game has a solid storyline and it does a good job of providing ample information to setup all the missions and tasks. You start off with little money and little reputation in the underworld but as you complete missions and co-ordinate with different gangs, you start building your own reputation and start becoming a household name within New Orleans. The game's challenges become progressively difficult with time and make you work harder to establish yourself further in the game. The storytelling in the game is one of the plus points as it does a good job of keeping the stakes high.
The gangster game's controls are nothing to write home about. The controls are simple with shooting controls in particular making your life extremely easy. The shooting controls are so simple that you don't need to aim anywhere to shoot with auto targeting present to eliminate your enemies. You only need to tap on the shoot button and the game would do the rest. The walking controls are also fine but the visuals while you walk are not particularly great as you don't really see what is in front of you when you walk or jog. The driving controls are probably the best though the gameplay does make driving normally pretty difficult. The cars become out of control at higher speeds and therefore, you would definitely kill a few people on the sidewalks on your way to any place.

The gangster game's missions are also a bit of letdown. There is a lot of repetition in the kind of mission you are assigned and this means that you can get bored after a while. There is not a lot of variation in the missions with only the difficulty level rising a bit. It does seem like the developers haven't put much thought into making the missions more engaging and have gone for the regular missions where you have to race people, kill your enemies or simply do pick and drops.

There are a few good things about the gangster game though. For starters, you can customize your character to a great extent with clothing and looks all customizable. You also get a good variety of cars that you can steal and weapons that can buy for use. There is also a fun element of turf wars within the game that puts you in competition with another gang and where you have to defend your territory against another hostile gang. This brings a new dimension to the gameplay and makes it more entertaining.
